King's ”Dark Half” will receive a new film adaptation

Image MGM has hired director Alex Ross Perry to lead the filming of the new adaptation of Stephen King's bestselling book The Dark Half. In 1993, the film of the same name was directed by the great George A. Romero based on this novel, and now the story of a prolific writer and his sinister alter ego will be rethought by a young and promising director.

The novel "The Dark Half" came out in 1989 and told about the writer Ted Beaumont, who works both under his own name and under the pseudonym "George Stark". When this format of creativity begins to bring problems to the protagonist, he decides to arrange a fictitious funeral for Stark, but after the ceremony, Ted's life turns into a real nightmare. Timothy Hutton plays Romero in the lead role.

It's no secret that when writing The Dark Half, King was inspired by his own example: when his books were dismantled like hot cakes, publishers advised Stephen to continue writing under a pseudonym. This is how Richard Bachman appeared, from whose pen such works as "Long Walk", "Roadworks" and "Slimming" were published.

Alex Ross Perry, a longtime fan of the Horror King, is known to film fans for last year's film Her Smell, starring Elizabeth Moss as a punk rocker unsuccessfully trying to return to a sober life.
