Lionsgate will bring Frankenstein's monster to life

Image Five years ago, Universal promised to create a massive cinematic universe featuring characters from its classic horror films. The very first film in the franchise, The Mummy, put an end to the venture and temporarily froze projects about Dracula, the Wolf Man and the brainchild of Frankenstein. Today it became known that Universal will have to withstand competition from the Lionsgate studio, which is preparing its own horror film about one of these famous antagonists.

The Californian company acquired from the writer Patrick Ness the script for the tape with the laconic title "Monster". Officials from Lionsgate did not disclose the details of the horror plot, but insiders managed to find out that this is a story based on Mary Shelley's ageless novel "Frankenstein, or Modern Prometheus.

Ness made his debut as a Hollywood screenwriter in 2016, adapting his own novel, The Voice of the Monster, for the big screen. The film received rave reviews in the press, but failed to recoup the $ 43 million budget.
