BBC Opens Pratchett's Watch Set

Image The British Broadcasting Corporation presented a long-awaited gift to fans of Terry Pratchett's works. Last spring, we reported that the BBC and the heirs of the British writer are preparing a fantasy detective "The Watch" * (The Watch) based on the book cycle "Discworld". Today it became known that the project has finally found leading actors.

As expected, the action of the novelty will unfold in the largest city in Discworld. The main character of the series will be an honest and incorruptible servant of the law Samuel "Sam" Vimes. Literary critics believe that the Ankh-Morpork city guard resembles both a hardened detective from classic noir thrillers and an old-fashioned British policeman in the spirit of Inspector Morse.

The role of Sam went to Richard Dormer, who recently starred as Berik Dondarrion in another fantasy saga, Game of Thrones.

Under the leadership of Vimes, the werewolf girl Dolphin Angwa von Uberwald (Marama Corlett), the mighty dwarf Carrot Zhelezobetonsson (Adam Hugill) and the asexual creature Rogue Zadranets (Joe Eaton-Kent) will work. Aristocrat Sibylla Ram (Lara Rossi) and mysterious criminal Kartser (Sam Adewunmi) will also play an important role in the plot of the opening season of "The Watch".

The series will begin filming later this month and is set to premiere on BBC America next year. The BBC already has experience in film adaptation of Pratchett: a few months ago, the leader of the British broadcasting and online service Amazon presented viewers with the mini-series Good Omens.
