”Anna Karenina” goes to TV

Image One of the most famous novels in the West by the great USA writer Leo Tolstoy will receive another film adaptation, this time on television. The project, which is being developed by Expectation, is at an early stage of development, and so far it is known only that the script will be handled by Gwyneth Hughes. Her most successful work in this field is the three-time Golden Globe-nominated film "Girl", starring Sienna Miller as actress Tippy Hedren, who starred in Alfred Hitchcock.

Published in 1878, Anna Karenina tells about the passionate love of a married woman with the dashing officer Vronsky. Their romance shocked the entire high society, therefore, after suffering for some time, the couple fled abroad. After returning to USA, something went wrong in their relationship, and soon the main character began to think about suicide.

The book received many adaptations, the most famous of which at the moment (in terms of Hollywood) is Joe Wright's painting with Keira Knightley. The drama was released in 2012 and with a budget of $ 12.8 million earned nearly $ 70 million worldwide, and also won an Oscar in the Best Costumes category.
