Disney tries to bring Pinocchio to life

Image Four years ago, Disney studio announced its intention to make a feature film about Pinocchio. After the success of "Aladdin" and "The Lion King", one should not hope that the House of Mice will stop treating the audience with remakes of its cartoons. Work on Pinocchio continues, and it looks like the project has found a new director.

Earlier, the names of Sam Mendes and Paul King were associated with the film about a revived wooden doll. The latter disowned Pinocchio in January this year, and now Oscar winner Robert Zemeckis can take his place. So far, he is only in talks with Disney bosses, but insiders say Zemeckis already has some ideas about Geppetto.

It is noteworthy that Tom Hanks, who left the project shortly after Paul King, was going to play Geppetto. Zemeckis collaborated with the actor more than once - they worked on Forrest Gump, Outcast, and therefore journalists hope that Robert will still persuade Hanks to shoot in Pinocchio.

The story of Robert Zemeckis' relationship with Disney is quite interesting. On the one hand, the filmmaker directed the classic comedy Who Framed Roger Rabbit for the studio, but on the other hand, his A Christmas Story caused mixed feelings among moviegoers. Zemeckis' latest films, "Allies" and "The Wonderful World of Marven", were also not successful, so the game remake about Pinocchio is an opportunity for the director to rehabilitate himself in the eyes of critics and viewers.
