Rogue One director returns to work

Image Filming a Star Wars episode is a dream for many young filmmakers, but what happens after that dream has come true? Ryan Johnson, for example, turned on ingenuity and creativity and radically changed the genre, and J.J. Abrams directed another part of the saga. Gareth Edwards, the director of Rogue One, doesn't fit into any of these categories. Since the Star Wars spin-off, the director hasn't made a single film, but thanks to New Regency, he's ready to catch up.

It is reported that Edwards is preparing a new project in the fantasy genre. It is based on the original idea of the filmmaker himself, and its action will unfold in the near future. Other details of the tape are still kept secret.

Edwards' career in Hollywood began with the horror film Monsters, after which the director was noticed by large studios. Legendary entrusted him with the work on Godzilla. The picture, although it did not pretend to be a masterpiece, lured the audience to the cinemas. Blockbuster marked the beginning of a new franchise, but for the sequel, the Legendary bosses found another director. The filming of Rogue One was challenging, but the spin-off received good reviews in the press, which, however, did not help Edwards' career, and for the past few years he has only been developing potential projects.

The new tape will be a real test for Gareth Edwards. The New Regency management will surely give him a free hand, and after two blockbusters, filmed under the strict supervision and direction of studio bosses, Edwards will finally create his own creation. Time will show whether it will be a masterpiece or another forgotten film.
