Clive Barker Rises from Hell

Image It's been a busy year for the famous HellRaiser franchise: not only is the reboot currently underway, led by David Bruckner, but also the author of the idea and the original film Clive Barker said that he was going to return the rights to the universe. The director in court intends to abandon the previously issued transfer of copyright to the franchise.

It is unlikely that back in 1986, Barker could have imagined the consequences of his decision and how popular a series of horror films based on his book would gain. If he wins, the sources say, Pinhead's creator will receive the rights to the story he wrote and the first script, but not to the innovations introduced in numerous sequels. In addition, Barker will not be able to regain his rights to HellRaiser until December 19, 2021, which means that the litigation will not be an obstacle to the release of the already planned film, if, of course, Bruckner can complete the shooting of the horror movie on time.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that such questions have been transferred to the courtroom: a similar litigation is underway over the rights to the famous slasher film Friday the 13th.
