Star Trek and Mission: Impossible star Simon Pegg and Oscar-winning J.K. Simmons ("Obsession") has accepted an invitation to star in Mark Palanski's comedy thriller My Only Sunshine ("You are my sun" *). The project will be presented to investors next week during the Toronto International Film Festival. It is not yet known how the actors will share the two main male roles: a police negotiator and a desperate husband going through a difficult period in marriage.|
According to the plot, the main character and his wife decide to rob a bank in order to earn money for an expensive divorce proceedings. When the spouses take hostages and the situation escalates, a professional negotiator joins the police cordon. A government official will have to recall a past experience with a similar robbery in order to save the lives of the hostages and, possibly, the marriage of criminals.
Filming for My Only Sunshine will begin this fall, scripted by J.T. Petty and Kate Petty. The actors also have other plans for the future: Simmons will appear on the big screen in 21 Bridges (scheduled to premiere in USA on October 24), and Pegg will work on a comedy horror with co-star Nick Frost.
