Matt Damon will return to the police

Image Don Winslow's novel "The Squad" became interested in Hollywood even before it hit store shelves. After some time, the film adaptation even had a director - James Mangold became him, but the work stalled on this. Now Mangold, resting on his laurels with the drama "Ford vs. Ferrari", is ready to settle in the world of corrupt cops, and Matt Damon will help him in this.

Damon, who co-starred in Ford vs. Ferrari, will now take on the role of Danny Malone, a NYPD detective heading an elite squad. He broke the law so often that he no longer knows where the line between good and evil is, and Danny finds himself embroiled in a corruption scandal. He is surrounded on all sides: Malone interferes with drug gangs from Harlem, the mafia, brothers in arms, the mayor's team and FBI investigators who dream of putting a detective behind bars. But most of all Danny cares about the deal he offered with the devil - for the sake of his family, he must betray his faithful companions in the squad ...

The Squad was initially adapted by David Mamet (Rogue), but Mangold will tweak the script with fellow Logan Scott Frank. Ridley Scott will be co-producing the film.

Damon is not the first time playing dirty cop: he has already pounded on colleagues in Martin Scorsese's The Departed. The actor's future projects also include the drama The Last Duel and the thriller The Quiet Pool.
