The creator of the sensational tragicomedy "Farewell" Lulu Wang has decided on the following film project: the talented director will lead the work on the film based on the Japanese drama "Son to Father".Hirokazu Koreeda's original film was released in 2013. The low-budget drama grossed $ 37 million, garnered rave reviews in the press, and received a ten-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival. The screening jury was chaired by Steven Spielberg, who loved the film so much that he bought the rights to the English-language remake for his DreamWorks studio. Koreeda's tape tells the story of two married couples who learned that six years ago their sons were mixed up in the hospital. The Wang project is being developed for Focus Features. Insiders find it difficult to say whether it is about the fact that Spielberg abandoned the remake and transferred the rights to another studio. Lulu noted that her picture will not be a literal retelling of the 2013 drama. It is possible that the DreamWorks remake will remain in place and we will have two standalone projects based on the Japanese movie hit.  Lulu Wang gained worldwide fame last year when Farewell won three dozen awards and made it to the American Film Institute's Top 10 Films of the Year.
