The Dark Tower has fallen
Last spring, fans of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" had hope that the iconic book cycle would receive a decent adaptation. The movie Shooter and the Man in Black failed to cope with their mission, and therefore the MRC studio decided to relocate them to television. Moreover, the company has enlisted the support of the online service Amazon, which, as you know, is not stingy if it sees potential in the project. The TV adaptation of "The Dark Tower" didn't have it.Much to the dismay of those who were waiting for the new version of "The Dark Tower", the pilot episode of the series did not impress Amazon bosses, and the project will not go beyond this stage. King's cycle has always been considered difficult to adapt for screens, which is why the streaming service was ordered by the pilot, not the full season, but the efforts of producer Glen Mazzara ("The Walking Dead") were not crowned with success. Insiders report that compared to other ambitious projects Amazon, "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Wheel of Time", "The Dark Tower" was losing on all fronts. The potential series was not associated with the 2017 feature film. The basis of its plot was to be the story of young Roland Desceine - his becoming a Gunslinger, his first mission, his first conflict with the Man in Black. For the role of Roland, the creators of the show invited Sam Strike, and the main villain was played by Jasper Paakkonen. According to rumors, Michael Rooker, Jerome Flynn and Joana Ribeiro also took part in the shooting of the pilot.
