The Syfy channel dreams of returning to the zombie world, and will help him in this project based on the horror film by George A. Romero "Day of the Dead". The network decided to do without filming the pilot and immediately ordered a full season of the series. It will consist of ten episodes.|
The plot of the show will center around six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours after the start of the zombie apocalypse. The series will become an ode to Romero's work, reminding that it is quite easy to unite people - all you need is a horde of bloodthirsty dead who dream of tearing them to shreds.
It is noteworthy that the theme of strangers at the dawn of the zombie apocalypse refers rather to the "Night of the Living Dead", because in "Day of the Dead" zombies were already in full swing on the planet, while people were hiding underground. Here, in fact, the central conflict flared up between the military and scientists. It is also rather strange that at a time when the universe of The Walking Dead is expanding and threatens to go beyond small screens, television producers have only now decided to turn to Romero's work.
The scriptwriters and showrunners of the project will be Jed Elinoff and Scott Alan Thomas ("It's already possible. But VERY scary!"). The new series is scheduled to be released next year.
