US President will save the world
During Bill Clinton's second term as president, the action movie "The President's Airplane" thundered in theaters. The head of the White House liked the heroic James Marshall played by Harrison Ford so much that he came up with his own thriller with the participation of top officials of the state. Plot sketches would have been gathering dust on the table if in 2017 Clinton had not teamed up with detective genre master James Patterson ("And the Spider Came") and sold the rights to film the future novel to Showtime. The President Gone was published last year, and now the cable network has finally started casting for its TV adaptation.The Clinton and Patterson work received mixed reviews in the press. Critics were upset by the absurdity of the plot and the abundance of product placement, which, however, did not prevent the novel from heading the New York Times bestseller list. The protagonist of the story was US President Jonathan Lincoln Duncan, who learned that a terrorist organization had developed a computer virus capable of erasing medical records and credit histories of millions of people. The head of the White House decides to find the organizers of the cyberattack, but first he will have to find a traitor in his own administration ... Duncan will be portrayed by Emmy and Golden Globe nominee David Oyelowo (Selma, Les Miserables).  Filming for the pilot will begin next year. The series will be produced by Christopher McQuarrie, who has already dealt with the espionage genre for the Mission: Impossible movie series.
