The head of the USA cultural department, Vladimir Medinsky, criticized the recently released film "The Joker" directed by Todd Phillips. According to him, the picture did not make the proper impression and even caused negative emotions, which was not the case with other "Marvel" pictures, which he watched only partially.|
Medinsky also said in an interview that the Ministry received demands to ban the rental of "Joker" in USA. But the question of being removed from the rental is not worth it, since the picture does not violate the requirements of the law: there is no pornography, calls to overthrow the system, there is also no propaganda of religious intolerance and interethnic hatred. Nevertheless, the minister added that if this film had been filmed in USA, it would hardly have received the support of the Ministry of Culture. The head of the department is known for his negative attitude towards comics - for example, he recently accused fans of this genre of having problems with reading, and he called his love of comics by adults as squalor.
Todd Phillips' drama "Joker" was presented in September this year at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the main prize. The film tells about the formation of one of Batman's main opponents in the DC Universe - the Joker, whose role was brilliantly played by Joaquin Phoenix. The film grossed over $ 500 million worldwide.
