His new drama, The Richard Jewell Affair, sets out 23 years ago that is more relevant than ever in an age of cyberbullying and fake news.The protagonist of the film is AT & T security guard Richard Jewell (Paul Walter Hauser), who was recruited to patrol the Olympic Park during the Atlanta Summer Games. On July 27, 1996, he came across a suspicious backpack. Richard contacted the city authorities and began an emergency evacuation. My instinct did not disappoint: a couple of minutes later a crushing explosion was heard in the park. Thanks to Jewell's actions, the number of victims of the attack was limited to two killed and 111 wounded. Richard was declared a national hero, but soon the FBI put forward an unexpected version that the guard himself planted a bomb to get into the editorials of newspapers. All those who recently sang the praises of Richard, immediately forgot about journalistic ethics and the presumption of innocence. Jewell had to endure months of bullying before the feds finally admitted the mistake and cleaned up his good name.
