Johnny Depp has joined the cast of the drama, Waiting for the Barbarians, which previously featured Robert Pattinson and Mark Rylance. According to Collider, the movie will take place in one of the overseas possessions of the British Empire.
The movie will be based on an allegorical novel by J. M. Coetzee and will tell about a British judge (Rylance), who lives in a small colonial town, who begins to doubt his own loyalty to the empire when he tries to ignore the inevitability of a war with the so-called “barbarians.” What kind of characters Depp and Pattinson will play is not specified yet.
The project will be funded by the blockchain platform TaTaTu Filming is expected to begin in early November 2018 in Morocco.
Recall that in August 2018, just a month before the premiere, the movie "City of Lies" with Johnny Depp was canceled. The reason was a lawsuit, initiated by one of the crew members, who accused the actor of using violence on the set. Johnny Depp's representatives, in turn, argued that the actor's actions were explained by self-defense.
