Universal is preparing a remake of ”Hunter Nights”
Universal took on a remake of the 1955 dramatic thriller Night of the Hunter, based on the novel by Davis Grubb, which, in turn, was written based on real events. Matthew Orton is the scriptwriter of the project, and Amy Pascal is among the producers.The plot of the original tape with Robert Mitchum in the title role revolved around the religious fanatic, swindler and murderer Harry Powell, who married a widow, knowing that her late husband had hidden the $ 10,000 stolen from the bank somewhere. To get to the money, the main character uses the children of his wife and not the most humane methods. The film was not particularly successful, not least because of the inconsistency of the topics covered in it, but subsequently viewers and critics still tasted it and received good ratings. Details about the remake are still few, but it is reported that we are waiting for a modernized version of the events described in the original.
