Popeye the sailor is back in action
Unexpected but good news came from Hollywood. Renowned animator Genndy Tartakovsky (Monsters on Vacation, Star Wars: The Clone Wars) resumes work on a cartoon about the adventures of the brave sailor Popeye.The project was originally prepared for the Sony studio. In the fall of 2014, Tartakovsky posted a test video of the cartoon on the Web. The audience liked the video, but after a few months Genndy left the project due to creative differences with the Sony management. Since then, the fate of "Popeye" has been in limbo. Today it became known that the spinach lover will nevertheless get to the movie screens: King Features has become interested in Tartakovsky's project.  The details of the deal are kept secret. Either the artist will have to draw a cartoon from scratch, or King Features will sign a contract with Sony, thanks to which Genndy will be able to use the old work.
