Roland Emmerich will return to the disaster genre

Image Director Roland Emmerich has come up with another way to destroy our planet. The creator of "Independence Day", "The Day After Tomorrow" and "2012" will drop its natural satellite onto Earth.

The movie-disaster with the telling title "Moonfall" (Moonfall) tells about the mysterious incident that knocked the earth's satellite out of orbit. Now the fate of the planet depends on the former outcasts of society, who must land on the moon and save humanity. It looks like the script was inspired by Michael Bay's Armageddon.

The first to join the cast of the film was Josh Gad ("Beauty and the Beast"), who got the role of a brilliant, but unadapted scientist. Obviously, it is he who will detect the threat of a planetary scale.

The rights to the American distribution of the film were acquired by the Lionsgate studio, which had already collaborated with Emmerich on his previous film, the military drama Midway.
