The Sad Prince of Beverly Hills
American channels and online services continue to film sequels, remakes and reboots of popular 90s series. This time the hands of the producers reached out to the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.The comedy series premiered in September 1990. The main role in the sitcom was played by Will Smith, who played a fictional version of himself - an ordinary guy from Philadelphia, who moved to rich relatives in Los Angeles. The series went on air for six seasons, won a half dozen awards and turned Smith into a superstar. The idea for the reboot came about last year, when young filmmaker Morgan Cooper released the short film Bel-Air. The four-minute ad has reimagined The Prince of Beverly Hills as a drama. The video became a hit on YouTube and caught the eye of Will Smith, who decided to develop Cooper's ideas in the format of a full-fledged drama series.  The creator of the short film will act as a director and executive producer of the TV project. Chris Collins (The Wire, Sons of Anarchy) will be the head of the series' writing team. Several channels and online services have shown interest in the dramatic version of The Prince, including Peacock and Netflix.
