Paramount will speak to the Caster

Image Paramount has acquired the rights to film the adaptation of Elsie Chapman's teen fantasy book, Caster. The film will be produced by Scholastic Entertainment, Josephson Entertainment and Akiva Goldsman's Weed Road Pictures. The adaptation of the novel will be done by D. Matt Geller.

The heroine of the book is a teenage girl Aza Wu. She knows how dangerous magic can be - her sister Shir died while trying to cast a spell. This incident made the heroine understand that everything in life has a price, especially magic. After the death of her sister, Aza remains the only heir and protector of the Wu tea house, which belonged to her family for several centuries and is now in great danger.

Scholastic Entertainment's latest projects include the Horror franchise, and Clifford the Big Red Dog, which combines animation with fiction, will be released in November. The company also plans to film other books in the genre of teenage fantasy: in mid-June it became known about the start of work on "Animorphs", and a week later - about the first actor in the team of the film "Magic School Bus".
