Moulin Rouge and The Great Gatsby creator Baz Luhrmann continues casting for a new musical film: the cast of the unnamed biopic Elvis Presley will be adorned by Golden Globe winner Maggie Gyllenhaal.|
Recall that the role of the King of Rock and Roll is assigned to Austin Robert Butler. The film will tell about Elvis's rise to fame and his relationship with his parents and agent Tom Parker. Oscar-winning Tom Hanks will appear as the latter. As for Gyllenhaal, she will play the mother of the protagonist.
Gladys and Vernon Presley made a huge contribution to the success of their son. Elvis loved to remember that his parents saved a few percent of their salary to buy him his first guitar. Gladys died in 1958 when the singer was drafted into the American army. The death of his mother inflicted a deep wound on Elvis, the pain of which was only drowned out by a triumphant return to the musical Olympus.
Filming will begin in the second half of this year.
