JC Chandor talks about the marathon robber

Image The Oscar nominee JC Chandor has decided to add an English-language remake of the Austrian thriller The Robber to his directorial filmography, reports The Hollywood Reporter . The original film was based on a book by Martin Prinz about one of the most famous criminals in Austrian history, Johan Kastenberger .

In 1977, Johan was arrested on suspicion of robbing a branch of the banking group Volksbank AG . Employees of the financial and credit organization gave an exhaustive description of the gangster's appearance, thanks to which the prosecutor managed to put Kastenberger behind bars for seven years.

As soon as the criminal was released, he again took up the old. Johan learned from old mistakes and began wearing a Ronald Reagan mask, which helped him carry out a series of daring robberies of Austrian banks. Kastenberger is also famous for his sporting achievements. In 1988, when more than four hundred police officers took part in the hunt for him, he set a record for one of the most prestigious Austrian mountain marathons.
