Brooklyn goes to small screens
Brooklyn , which earned Saoirse Ronan nominations for Golden Globe and Oscars , will receive a TV adaptation from the BBC , reported by the Variety information resource.It is known that Ronan will not return to his role from the original, and so far only actress Julie Walters, who played the landlord of Ma Kehoe , has agreed to appear in the TV version. In the film, released last November, Ronan stars as Ellis Lacey , a young immigrant who moved from Ireland to Brooklyn in the 1950s. In America, the girl is looking for a job, falls in love and begins to breathe the spirit of freedom, but soon the heroine has to return to her native Ireland and make a difficult choice between two different continents.  The source says that the plot of the BBC series will revolve around Mrs. Kehoe and the American, British and Irish girls living there.
