Mortal Kombat will return to the big screen
As it became known to the journalists of The Tracking Board , the studio New Line Cinema has decided to move the long-awaited restart of " Mortal Kombat " off the ground.The new producer of the tape will be James Wang , whose "Fast and Furious 7" has brought the studio Universal more than $ 1.5 billion this year. It has not yet been announced whether the filmmaker expects to act as the director of the film adaptation of the cult video game series. Currently, Wang is preparing for the filming of the sequel to The Conjuring, and his immediate plans also include the blockbuster Aquaman. The script for the new " Mortal Kombat " was written by Dave Callaham ("Godzilla") and Oren Uzil ("Macho and the nerd 2"). The latter once acted as the author of the plot of the short film "Mortal Kombat: Rebirth", which helped Kevin Tancharoen launch the web series "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" ( Mortal Kombat: Legacy ) and received in October 2011 the post of director of the full-length reboot. However, two years later, Kevin unexpectedly withdrew from the project. The first game in the Mortal Kombat series went on sale in 1992. Three years later, New Line Cinema took the heroes of the fighting game to the big screens. The film by Paul W. S. Anderson earned more than $ 122 million at the worldwide box office on a budget of $ 20 million . In 1997, John R. Leonetti filmed a sequel that failed to recoup its production costs.
