Robert Rodriguez will return Johnny Quest to screens
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter , Robert Rodriguez will lead the filming of Johnny Quest , a full-length fictional version of the classic of the same name.Studio Warner Bros. has been developing a project for several years, the original script for which was written by Dan Mazu. However, Rodriguez , together with Terry Rossio (The Legend of Zorro), will make their own adjustments to the text. Dan Lin and Adrian Askaria are responsible for the production. The animated series Johnny Quest was first released in 1964.The protagonist is a restless boy who accompanies his scientist father on missions around the world. They are accompanied on their travels by Haji (an orphan from Calcutta and Johnny 's best friend), a dog Bandit and an intelligence agent Race Bennon .  And although the show was closed after the first season due to the high costs of its creation, later, in the 80s and 90s, a reboot of the cartoon was released, and then comics about Johnny Quest were published. Producer Dan Lin started developing the idea of a full-length version back in 2007. Three years later, the studio gave the project the green light. Zac Efron was recruited to play Johnny , while Special Agent Bennon was to be played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The director's chair was then occupied by Peter Segal, but work on the film did not get off the ground.  Rodriguez already has experience working on films for young audiences - he directed all four parts of the Spy Kids franchise. Robert is currently filming the second season of From Dusk Till Dawn .
