Today celebrates her birthday Oscar-winning French actress Marion Cotillard , familiar to the general public from the films of the Taxi franchise and The Dark Knight, and to more sophisticated film fans - from the piercing biographical drama Life in Pink and several shiny independent ribbons.|
Marion was born on September 30, 1975 in Paris, the son of a theater actress and director, and first appeared on stage at the age of six. After studying at the Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, she set off to conquer the world of film and television, and success was not long in coming - at 22, the young Frenchwoman received her first theater award and a role in the same "Taxi". This action-adventure movie instantly made her a star, but so far only in France.
However, many limited-release films featuring Marion were warmly welcomed by cinephiles from all over the world. It was impossible not to fall in love with her heroine from the romantic drama "Fall in love with me if you dare" or to ignore the transcendental prostitute from "The Long Engagement".
For the perfect fit into the image of Edith Piaf and the unprecedented portrayal of her tragic fate in the painting "Life in Pink" Marion won the "Oscar" and automatically became the second actress in the history of this film award to receive the coveted statuette for Best Actress in a Foreign Film.
Other iconic works by Cotillard include roles in Johnny D., Inception, Rust and Bone, Passion Fatal and Two Days, One Night. And very soon the drama Macbeth, in which Marion will accompany Michael Fassbender, will hit the big screens.
