USA dropped out of the Oscar-2016 competition
The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has named nine films remaining nominated for the Oscars for Best Foreign Film.This year, 80 countries have applied for the prestigious film award. USA was represented by Nikita Mikhalkov's drama "Sunstroke", which failed to enter the shortlist of nominees. The five finalists in the Best Foreign Language Film category will be announced on January 14, when academics will announce the full list of nominations for the Oscars . The 88th Academy Awards will take place on 28 February 2016 . The shortlist for the " Oscar - 2016 " for Best Foreign Film includes: "In the labyrinth of silence" (Giulio Ricciarelli, Germany)  "War" (Tobias Lindholm, Denmark) "Pride" (Naji Abu Novar, Jordan) Mustang (Denise Gamze Erguven, France) "New Testament" (Jaco Van Dormel, Belgium)  "Embrace the Serpent" (Ciro Guerra, Colombia) "Son of Saul" (Laszlo Nemesh, Hungary) "The Fencer" (Klaus Hare, Finland) "Viva" (Paddy Bretnack, Ireland)
