The Shaft reboot has found the writers

Image In February this year, it became known that New Line had acquired the rights to the Shaft franchise and launched a film reboot. Now the publication The Hollywood Reporter shares information that the project has found writers in the person of Kenya Burris and Alex Barnow .

The duo has a decent background in this capacity. Thus, Burris is the creator of the sitcom "Blackish" ( Black-ish ), as well as the author of the text for "Barber Shop 3". Barnow , in turn, is currently working on the comedy show "The Goldbergs" ( The Goldbergs ).

Recall that the main character of the original film based on the novel by Ernest Tydeman is a private detective John Shaft (Richard Roundtree), who is tasked with finding the missing daughter of a New York mobster.

In 2000, Paramount Pictures released a reboot of The Shaft , the protagonist of which was the detective's nephew. He is portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson. There is no information yet about the plot of the new remake, but the source claims that the film will retain the playful tone of the original and will be full of action.

John Davis and Ira Napoliello will be producing the project.
