In 2013, the creators of the drama "12 Years a Slave" were not afraid to touch one of the darkest chapters in American history, receiving the title of Best Film of the Year at the 86th Oscars. According to Deadline , work has begun in Hollywood on yet another slavery tape, the plot of which will be based on real events. Companies Macro and New Balloon plan to tell viewers the life story of one of the key figures in the history of abolitionism - Harriet Tubman .Harriet was born into a family of slaves in 1822. From an early age, Tubman was subjected to corporal punishment, due to which, by the age of 27, her health was seriously damaged. Realizing that she was no longer valuable to her masters, the girl decided to escape from Maryland to Pennsylvania. Soon she returned for her family and friends, and then began to take an active part in the work of the so-called Underground Railroad , with the help of which thousands of fugitive slaves were transported to the North. During the Civil War, Tubman served in the Northerners as a nurse and scout. So great is Harriet 's merit in the fight to abolish slavery and women's rights that two weeks ago, the US Treasury announced the launch of $ 20 bills with her portrait for 2020.  At the helm of the biopic will be the popular television director Seth Mann , whose track record includes such famous series as Dexter ( Dexter ), Hell on Wheels ( Hell on Wheels ) and The Walking Dead . The drama will be written by Gregory Allen Howard ("Ali") and will feature Debra Martin Chase, Daniela Taplin Lundberg and Kim Roth on the production team.
