Casting: Ranger, Robber & Aspiring Drug Dealer
We recently reported that Power Rangers has cast Naomi Scott as Kimberly , and Movieweb is now sharing information that Dacre Montgomery will play Jason - Red Ranger .According to an as yet unconfirmed description, Jason was the school's sporting legend in the past. The talented quarterback dreamed of leading his team to victory in the championship until he was injured in a car accident. Soon after the tragedy, the hero became the leader of the Power Rangers. The project is directed by Dean Israelite (Continuum) and written by Ashley Miller and Zach Stentz. Now casting is underway for the roles of the rest of the Rangers and the main villain of the film, which, according to rumors, could be Rita Repulsa or Skorpina . And it is not yet known whether the new version will be a reboot or will continue the story of the Rangers, told in the latest series of the franchise - "Power Rangers: Dino Charge" ( Power Rangers Dino Charge ).  The project can be for Dacre Montgomery as an impetus in his film career, since so far the actor's filmography includes only the short film "Bertrand the Terrible". John Hamm ("Mad Men" / Mad Men ) has signed up to take part in the filming of Edgar Wright's crime thriller " The Young Driver ", where he will accompany Ansel Elgort and Lily James. The plot of the picture revolves around a dumb racer who agrees to the offer of a criminal gang to help them during a bank robbery. However, soon the protagonist realizes that this venture endangers not only his freedom, but also his life.  Hamm will play one of the villains - a former Wall Street broker who has become a member of the same criminal gang that recruited the protagonist. Also on the list of future projects of the actor can be found the comedy "Keeping Up with the Jones", the action movie High Wire Act and the drama Marjorie Prime.  Finally, Skyler Gisondo landed a role in The Godmother , starring Catherine Zete-Jones. She will play Griselda Blanco, a woman who, in the 70s and 80s, was at the very epicenter of the drug war and earned millions of dollars a month from the drug trade. Gisondo will be reincarnated as a spoiled boy from a wealthy family who wants to succeed by selling cocaine. The biopic will be directed by Gerard Johnson (Tony).
