Casting: Great Comedians and Family Secrets

Image As The Hollywood Reporter found out, Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge) and John C. Reilly (Chicago) will play the main roles in the film Stan and Ollie ( Stan and Ollie ) - a biopic of the cult comedians Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.

British studio BBC Films is working on the project, which is described as a tribute to two of the funniest actors in the history of cinema. The drama will chronicle a period when already aging stars were performing throughout the UK. It was then that the duo realized that their golden era had come to an end. But despite the small number of spectators attending the concerts, comedian performances soon became popular. This helped Stan and Ollie not only to delight old fans, but also to find new ones.

The script for the film was written by Jeff Pope (Philomena), and the director's chair will be taken by John S. Baird, who previously directed the crime drama "Dirt" with James McAvoy. The project is produced by Fay Ward.

Christine Langan, head of BBC Films , noted that Reilly and Coogan are a casting dream, and that actors will be able to reliably and engagingly tell viewers about the extraordinary creative duo of comedians.

Biopic Laurel and Hardy are not the only projects that Coogan has signed up to. So, it is reported that the actor, along with Richard Gere ("Pretty Woman"), Laura Linney ("The Mysterious River"), Rebecca Hall (" Vicky Cristina Barcelona ") and Chloe Sevigny (" Gummo ") will take part in the filming of the tape The Dinner ( " Dinner " *). The film will be based on the novel of the same name by Herman Koch, which was adapted by Oren Moverman ("The Messenger"). He will subsequently head the shooting of the film.

The brothers have long been at odds, since Stan is a successful politician claiming the post of governor, and Paul is an unemployed person who harbors a grudge against his brother. During dinner, it turns out that their children are hiding a terrible secret - they have committed a heinous crime, and now the families have to decide what to do next.

Caldecott Chubb, Lawrence Ingley, Eddie Weisman and Julia Lebedev will act as producers of the upcoming film.
