Reese Witherspoon to produce crime thriller
Deadline Hollywood reports that Reese Witherspoon and film producer Bruna Papandrea of Pacific Standard have acquired the rights to film the Australian journalist's debut novel Jane Harper The Dry .Farmer Luke Hadler kills his family and then himself. Investigating the circumstances of this case, policeman Aaron Falk , a childhood friend of Luke , is forced to return to his native village, whose residents once did not want to consider Falk as their own. As the investigation progresses, Aaron begins to realize that the story that linked him and Luke is very close to emerging. The policeman's old wounds begin to bleed, and the death of a friend may not be the worst blow for the returning Falk ... In May this year, Harper won the Victorian Premier Literary Award , and literally this week at the Frankfurt Book Fair dozens of publishers from different countries purchased the rights to publish the novel.  Pacific Standard is a Witherspoon film company specializing in film adaptations of works by female authors. Thanks to the efforts of the company, such book bestsellers as Gillian Flynn's Gone Gone and Wild. Dangerous journey as a way to find yourself ”Cheryl Strayd. In the adaptation of the latter, Reese played the main role.  It is worth noting that in both cases, Pacific Standard acquired the rights to film adaptation even before the book's release - as it turned out, accurately predicting commercial success.
