Judy Dench will lead the cat gang
Director Tom Hooper (Les Miserables) continues to garner stars for his film musical Cats. According to the portal Deadline, the name Judy Dench can now be added to the already impressive list of actors who have agreed to shoot in the film.The Oscar winner will play in "Cats" Duteronomy - the elder of the Jellicle tribe, who at the annual ball chooses who of the cats will go to heaven and be reborn in a new life. He is eventually kidnapped by the bandit Makaviti (Idris Elba). In the classic version of the Old Man, Duteronomy was always played by a man, but Hooper apparently decided that it was time for the Jellicle cats to acquire a matriarch. It is noteworthy that Judi Dench has her own story related to the musical: back in 1981, when the production was just being prepared on the West End, Dench was supposed to play Grisabella in it, but due to injury she refused the role.  Filming for the musical will begin shortly and will premiere on December 20 next year.
