Gibson disapproves. Trailer of the film ”A Beautiful Mind”

Image Mel Gibson and Sean Penn made it to the front pages of newspapers more than once for their scandalous antics, and for the first time violators of Hollywood calm played in one film - the drama "A Game of Minds". The heroes of the Oscar winners also find themselves at the center of the conflict, and the audience has yet to decide who is a genius and who is a criminal.

Work on the Oxford English Dictionary began as early as 1857, and Professor James Murray (Gibson) took over the leadership of such an ambitious and revolutionary project. To prevent the process from dragging on for centuries, the editors turned to people for help in collecting material, who could send them definitions of words. As a result, it turned out that more than ten thousand such definitions came from one person - Dr. William Chester Minor (Penn). However, the committee refuses to indicate him in the authors of the dictionary, because he is a madman and a criminal convicted of murder, and only Murray believes that this is how Minor can atone for his guilt ...

Gibson acquired the rights to film the book by Simon Winchester about 20 years ago, but "A Beautiful Mind" may not have seen the light of day. The film, like the Oxford English Dictionary, was the subject of controversy. Gibson filed a lawsuit against Voltage Pictures, claiming that they did not allow director Farad Safinia to complete filming properly, and also deprived him of the right to choose the final cut of the picture. As a result, the court turned out to be on the side of the studio, and what viewers will see in the end is a version that neither Gibson nor Safinia approve of.
