Pavel Lungin will remove the ”paraphrase” of his ”Taxi-Blues”

Image Laureate of the Cannes Film Festival, director Pavel Lungin ("Taxi Blues", "The Island"), begins work on another project. This time he will take on a psychological thriller. The film, entitled "Red Arsenal", was presented by Lungin during a pitching at the Cinema Foundation.

According to the director, the script is already ready. It is assumed that the new project will become a "paraphrase" of his drama "Taxi Blues". It will be a story about a split in society, based on real events. In the future film, Pavel Lungin will take the viewer to Tajikistan in the early 90s, when Soviet troops were leaving the former Soviet republic. In the center of events will be a conscript soldier and a journalist from the capital, who, by chance, are forced to defend a warehouse with weapons from Islamic extremists.

The director plans to invite Konstantin Khabensky ("Night Watch") and Vladimir Vdovichenkov ("Boomer") to the main roles. Filming will take place in the mountainous regions of Dagestan. The budget of the new project, as well as the timing of its implementation have not yet been announced.
