Hollywood Escape

Image In 2008, director Pierre Morel made a splash in Hollywood with the action-packed thriller Hostage. To the disappointment of fans of the Frenchman's creativity, his next works, "From Paris with Love", "Gunman" and "Crimson Mint", received devastating press reviews and could not recoup their production budgets. According to Deadline, Morel will have a chance to redeem himself for his recent setbacks with a film about the dizzying adventures of one of the most dangerous French criminals.

Pierre has accepted an invitation from Conde Nast Entertainment and Sentient Entertainment to lead the as-yet-untitled crime thriller based on Julie Miller's article How Hollywood Inspired the Most Daring Prison Break in French History. The famous gangster Reduan Faid became the protagonist of the fascinating story of the Vanity Fair journalist.

Faid was born in the small French town of Creil into a family of immigrants from Algeria. In his youth, Reduan became interested in Hollywood crime dramas, which prompted him to create his own gang. One day, the cinephile criminal attended the Paris Film Festival, where he met director Michael Mann. "You became my technical consultant", - the gangster confessed to the creator of the legendary "Skirmish". In the mid-90s, Faid and his gang carried out a series of armed robberies of various financial institutions. In 1998, Reduan was caught and sent to jail for 30 years, but ten years later he was released for exemplary behavior. Faid published an autobiography in which he swore and swore that he had started a new life. Two years later, he planned a robbery that led to the death of a police officer who arrived at the scene.<

The authorities failed to prove Reduan's involvement in the crime, but they caught him violating the conditions of early release. Faid was thundered behind bars for eight years, and this time did not give in to wait for the end of his sentence. In April 2013, he made a truly Hollywood prison break from Sekeden, taking four guards hostage and blowing up five armored doors on his way to freedom. In the wild, the offender tried to acquire a fake Israeli passport, but was arrested and transferred to a maximum security penitentiary. Last July, he made another escape that Michael Scofield himself might well have envied. Faid's accomplices pretended to be students of a flight school and stole a helicopter from a nearby airfield. Then they flew to the roof of one of the buildings of the prison complex of Reo, where Reduan was already waiting for them.

Three weeks later, Faid was spotted in Paris, but miraculously escaped pursuit. The hunt for France's most wanted criminal was not completed until October 3, 2018, when the police finally sent the escape master back behind bars.
