WB is ready to step outside the future

Image Warner Bros. studio executives they finally remembered that they had the long-awaited sequel to the sci-fi action movie Edge of Tomorrow gathering dust on their shelf. The Hollywood major intends to get off the ground with work on the sequel to one of the most striking movie attractions of 2015.

The original film's script was based on the storyline of Hiroshi Sakurazaki's light novel All You Need Is Kill. The action movie earned accolades in the press, as evidenced by an impressive 90% rating on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. To the disappointment of sai-fay fans, the picture did not become a huge hit in the rental. What's more, it squeezed back its impressive $ 178 million budget. Edges of Tomorrow's final box office stalled at $ 370.5 million, but Warner Bros. received a tangible increase in this amount due to excellent sales of the film on digital media.

The talks about creating a sequel have been going on since the end of 2015. Since that time, both director Doug Lyman and the main stars of the original, Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, have expressed a desire to return to the world of "Tomorrow's Edge". It looks like the work on the second part of the franchise has finally made the long-awaited progress. Today it became known that the WB bosses have involved a new author in the project - Matthew Robinson ("The Invention of Lies").

Even if Robinson reworked the early script as quickly as possible, Edge of Tomorrow 2 is unlikely to go into production this year. Emily Blunt will soon go to the set of the sequel to A Quiet Place, and Tom Cruise will be working on two new parts of the spy film series Mission: Impossible.
