Netflix will send viewers to virtual reality
The online service Netflix is ready to make a wonderful gift for fans of science fiction and stories of fascinating travel in virtual reality. As it became known to Collider, the streaming giant has decided to join forces with David Ellison's Skydance Television to create a game series based on the popular Japanese media franchise Sword Art Online.Earlier this month, Netflix and Skydance unveiled Altered Carbon. The fantastic action movie caused a storm of positive emotions among fans of cyberpunk and dizzying action games, thanks to which the management of the online service decided to continue its cooperation with Ellison's company. The script for the pilot of the Sword Art Online series will be written by the creator of Altered Carbon, Laeta Kalogridis.  The franchise was created in 2009, when the first editions of the light novel Reki Kawahara appeared on the shelves of Japanese bookstores. The story is set in 2022, when the massively multiplayer online game Sword Art Online was launched in the Land of the Rising Sun. The first ten thousand gamers were connected to the game using special virtual reality helmets. They soon discovered that they could only return to the real world if they completed one hundred SAO levels ...  Over the years, the Sword Art Online universe has expanded with manga, anime series and video games. The details of the plot of the Netflix and Skydance videogame are still kept secret, but Kalogridis has already managed to assure SOA fans that actors with Asian roots will be invited to star in it.
