Posters: Predator Ballad

Image Initially, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs was conceived as a television project, but in the end Ethan and Joel Coen decided to realize their idea in the format of an anthology film, the directors and screenwriters of which they themselves became. The western film has already been shown at the Venice Film Festival, and the first poster for it has just appeared in the LostFilm.INFO gallery.

Critics praise the Coens' new brainchild in different ways. They managed to create a western full of various emotions - from melancholy to satire. Six stories, unrelated to each other, are presented to the viewer as chapters of one book and make one empathize with the heroes, then laugh at them and together with them. As expected, the Coens also put together a decent cast on the screen, inviting Tim Blake Nelson to play the role of Buster Scruggs. He was accompanied by James Franco, Liam Neeson, Tom Waits, and each of them got a colorful image, be it a lucky bank robber, theatrical impresario, or a gold digger in trouble.

It is noteworthy that "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs" is not the only Western participating in the Main Competition of the Venice Film Festival. Along with the Coens' film, Jacques Audiar's The Sisters Brothers will also compete for the main prize of the show. Reviewers rated the first English-language tape of the eminent Frenchman very highly, so the audience on Lido had a chance to contemplate another high-quality western. But if the Coens turned out to be old-school, then Audiar shot a revisionist picture trying to move away from the established principles of the genre. Here, as in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, the characters can and should be admired: Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Riley turned out to be an excellent duet, just captured on the new poster of the tape.

Also in today's selection is a poster for The Prime Candidate political drama, which critics say could win Hugh Jackman his second Oscar nomination.
