Is Downey hinting at the imminent return of Sherlock Holmes?
Although Robert Downey Jr. became the most popular actor thanks to the image of Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in his career there is the role of another iconic character. According to the publication ScreenRant, the actor hints that he will soon reincarnate the image of Sherlock Holmes in the third part of the action-comedy about the adventures of the great detective.Earlier, we reported that the triquel received a premiere date of 2020. Although fans will have to wait another two years for Sherlock to return, Downey has already begun preparing for his role. The actor tweeted a GIF and wrote, "Rehearsing Sherlock's expression." Apparently, this was not such a subtle way of hinting that the film would soon go into production. As a reminder, Downey has not yet officially signed a contract. So far, the third part of Holmes's adventures fits into Robert's filming schedule. Now the actor is most likely involved in reshoots of "Avengers 4", while the production of "The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle" has already ended. So the triquel is likely to be the actor's next project. Jude Law's schedule is also pretty loose given that Captain Marvel's filming has already ended. But since it was not officially announced that the film was in development, perhaps Downey is simply getting used to the character, whose role he has not rehearsed for seven years.  Downey's hint does not mean any progress in the project, since the tape's director's chair is still empty. Although Guy Ritchie is expected to take over as director, recent rumors hint that his participation is not guaranteed. If he does return, then the production of the picture will be delayed until next summer, since now Richie is busy working on the game version of "Aladdin". The next project on the director's schedule is the crime tape Toff Guys, which will postpone the filming of "Sherlock Holmes" by the end of 2019. If Richie does take up the work on the triquel, then Downey still has a lot of time to prepare for the role, but if Sherlock is left without a British director, then filming will begin earlier than expected.
