The phenomenal success of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead helped Robert Kirkman become a successful producer. Several years ago, the creator of the popular horror franchise founded Skybound Entertainment, under whose banner the television adaptation of his graphic novel The Rogue has already appeared. As it became known to The Hollywood Reporter, Kirkman's studio is currently working on the adaptation of another famous comic book.|
Skybound Entertainment has given the green light to create a feature film based on Joshua Williamson's graphic novel Birthright, which was first released in 2014. At the center of the story were the Rhodes couple, whose son went missing under strange circumstances. A year later, a stranger appears on the threshold of their house. He claims to be their child, who returned from a mysterious fantasy world, where time passes much faster than the earth ...
The adaptation of the original will be done by screenwriters Shinko Paul and Ken Daurio, whose track records include such animated hits as Despicable Me, Lorax and The Secret Life of Pets.
The Skybound Entertainment project will be supported by Universal Corporation. Birthright will be the third collaboration between Robert Kirkman and the Hollywood major: the studios had previously launched a film adaptation of the Invincible and Kill the Minotaur comics.
