Fighters of the Unseen Front

Image Over the years, the word "non-adaptable" has often been used to refer to comics. Once considered unsuitable for film adaptation "Keepers" and "Shepherd", but time passes, television and cinema are developing, which forces producers to return again and again to graphic novels, which, it would seem, are difficult to transfer to screens. UCP is ready to take a chance, especially if the author of that very complex comic is open for cooperation. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Grant Morrison has signed an agreement with UCP and is adapting his brainchild, The Invisibles, for TV.

The comic was published by Vertigo from 1994 to 2000. It is about a secret organization that fights physical and mental oppression through time travel, magic, meditation and violence. The team of protagonists consists of the leader King Mob, a Brazilian transvestite shaman, a former police detective, a telepath with a mysterious past and a Liverpool bully. Well, they oppose the so-called Outer Church, uniting alien gods who enslaved most of the people on the planet without their knowledge.

Morrison himself claims that the comic "The Invisibles" reflects the experience he gained from communicating with aliens who abducted the author during his trip to Kathmandu. The graphic novel is full of references, allusions and symbols. Here anarchy coexists with occultism, LSD, sex and high technology, and therefore the "Invisibles" have not yet made it to the screens.

Several years ago, BBC Scotland tried to acquire the rights to film a graphic novel, but this idea was never realized. Morrison's other comic, Happy !, has already become a successful Syfy series, and hopefully The Invisibles will follow in his footsteps.
