The British will build a time machine

Image The passion with which fans of the world of television have fought for the fate of the adventure drama Out of Time has demonstrated that modern TV series lovers have a genuine interest in stories of the quirks of the space-time continuum. As it became known to the publication Deadline, the British broadcasting corporation Sky is preparing its project about time travel. The media giant's management has launched a series based on the Holy Grail of the fantastic genre - "The Time Machine" by H.G. Wells.

Sky had already tried to bring characters from the ageless 1895 novel to the small screens last year. When work on the series came to a standstill, the management of the London company used some of the script sketches of its creators in the work on the miniseries The Nightmare Worlds of H.G. Wells. Now the leaders of the broadcasting corporation are ready to make a new attempt to send viewers to the distant future, in which humanity is divided into pampered Eloi and bloodthirsty Morlocks.

Sky's help in the work on the television adaptation of The Time Machine will be a subsidiary of another British media giant - BBC Worldwide. According to preliminary information, the authoring group of the series will be headed by the famous English screenwriter and playwright Nick Payne ("The Crown").

Heroes of "Time Machine" have already visited TV in 1978 in the American channel NBC, which did not cause much enthusiasm among the audience. The latest attempt to adapt Wells' famous novel for the big screen was also unsuccessful. Although the 2002 Time Machine was directed by the writer's great-grandson and included Guy Pearce and Jeremy Irons, the film failed to recoup its $ 80 million budget and received a humiliating 29% rating on review site Rotten Tomatoes.
