King of the Screen
Someday it had to happen: one of the greatest actors of our time will play one of the greatest characters of William Shakespeare. As it became known to The Guardian, Oscar-winning Al Pacino signed up for the lead role in the new film adaptation of the famous play "King Lear".The guest of the editorial board of the popular British newspaper was director Michael Radford, who announced the start of work on the film adaptation of one of Shakespeare's most powerful tragedies. According to the director, Pacino has long dreamed of embodying the image of Lear and willingly agreed to participate in his project. In recent years, Al has repeatedly expressed disappointment that Hollywood film companies have practically ceased to be interested in the work of William Shakespeare. It seems that for the sake of the role of King Lear, he will have to go to Albion. Michael Radford has not yet disclosed details about the film, but made it clear that it will be created with the support of one of the British studios.  Shakespeare's famous tragedy was first published in 1608. Its main character was the British King Lear, who decided to retire and very recklessly divided his kingdom between two flattering daughters. Radford and Pacino have already introduced moviegoers to the legacy of the most famous British playwright. In 2004, they presented the audience with the film Merchant of Venice, which could not recoup its budget, but earned a warm welcome in the press.
