Windswept Troops

Image Once the eminent British screenwriter Stephen Knight admitted that he would like to end the series "Peaky Blinders" with a siren sound, announcing the beginning of the German airstrike on Birmingham. This idea is unlikely to be implemented in the next couple of years, since the BBC does not plan to say goodbye to the heroes of the brilliant gangster epic yet. Knight decided not to wait for the final of "Peaky Blinders" and took on another intriguing TV project that will transfer viewers to the fields of World War II.

Stephen begins work on a series about the inception of the Special Airborne Service (SAS). The elite division of the British Armed Forces was created in July 1941 by Lieutenant David Stirling. At first, it was called "Special Detachment L, Air Brigade for Special Purpose." The baptism of fire of the British paratroopers took place in November of the same year during Operation Crusader.

In September 1942, the military unit received its modern name. Over the years of World War II, SAS fighters took part in many bloody battles and decorated their banner with dozens of badges of honor and distinction.

Today, the tasks of the Special Airborne Service include the fight against terrorists, reconnaissance of enemy forces and operations to rescue hostages. The plot of the series about the British paratroopers will be based on the novel by historian Ben McIntyre SAS: Rogue Heroes. In addition, Knight will be given access to the secret archives of the famous military unit.

Stephen is currently busy preparing for the release of the fifth season of Peaky Blinders. According to rumors, Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby will return to television screens in the second half of this year.
