King's Stories for Kids

Image In Hollywood, a new wave of Stephen King adaptations continues to gain momentum. Soon, fans of the King of Horrors will have a remake of "Pet Sematary" and a sequel to "The Shining" - the film "Doctor Sleep". According to Collider, both tapes are likely to receive an R rating. Although many studios do not want to limit the audience of their projects for fear of collecting a small box office, the success of "It" proves that even an "adult" picture, released at the right time, could be a box office hit.

Although the original author did not like the adaptation of The Shining by Stanley Kubrick, the film maintained the atmosphere of real horror. The sequel's director, Mike Flanagan, assures that his movie will follow in the footsteps of the original.

The director commented, “This is one of the most daunting projects I've ever done because we're standing in the shadow of Stanley Kubrick. But the only way to conquer fear is to say, “I'm not Kubrick. I will never be, and I never try to be. ” I just want to make my own movie and see what comes of it. I won't go online for a couple of weeks after the premiere, and everything will be fine”.

Pet Sematary director Dennis Widmeyer also said his film should get an R rating: “It's a damn dark story. Most of King's work is quite sentimental. Good always wins. Even in The Shining there is a happy ending: Wendy Torrance marries Dick Halloran, although this was not in the film. But about The Graveyard ... King himself put the book away on the table for a whole year: he was so scared of what he had written. This is the story we are filming.

Project producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura also said that he would be surprised if the film did not receive an R rating. He also added that there was never any talk of a PG-13 rating, and no effort was made to make the film less violent.

Pet Sematary will premiere on April 5, 2019, while Sleep Doctor will have to wait until January 24, 2020.
