While David Leitch had smoothly switched from spies to superheroes, his fellow John Wick Chad Stahelski wanted to dilute the high-quality action with a drop of magic. According to the Deadline website, the director signed up for a project called Sandman Slim, based on the book series by Richard Kadri.Studio 8 acquired the rights to film the fantasy series two years ago. If the first planned film is successful, it will serve as the foundation for the creation of an entire franchise. Kerry Williamson ("I, Alex Cross") is writing the script for the future film. The plot of the original books revolves around James Stark. This straightforward and impulsive guy went to hell 11 years ago through the fault of a mysterious magical brotherhood. All this time, in non-stop mode, he fought against demons in the underworld and turned into a tough mercenary who, having got out of captivity, is ready to take revenge on those who broke his life and killed his beloved. This is how James finds himself on the streets of Los Angeles, where he fights against vampires and other evil spirits.  The main concept of the original source is close to the universe of "John Wick", but it is distinguished by its presence of dark near-magic themes, elements of classic horror in the Lovecraft style and humor on the verge. Therefore, Chad Stahelski, who knows a lot about action, is an interesting choice for the role of director of film adaptation, but he has many other projects on the agenda. So, Stahelski is assigned to the "John Wick" triquel and is going to film the pilot of the franchise's television spin-off.
