Roald Dahl's stories are well known not only to book lovers, but also to film lovers. The writer's works have more than once been adapted for large screens - what are only the classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Witches, James and the Giant Peach. Now, thanks to the online service Netflix, Dahl's books will be given new life on the small screens.|
The streaming platform has announced that Netflix, in partnership with the Roald Dahl Story Company, will turn the famous author's work into animated series. According to a press release, the online service intends to gather a team of the best animators and screenwriters to bring Dahl's works to life in a serial format for viewers of all ages.
The list of Roald Dahl books that will get a chance from Netflix is quite extensive. It includes "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Matilda", "BDV, or the big and kind giant", "The Tweet Family", "The George Marvelus Treatment", "The Huge Crocodile" and many others. However, this list does not include such famous works as "The Witches", "James and the Giant Peach" and "The Marvelous Mr. Fox." This is probably due to the fact that the rights to film adaptation of these tales belong to other studios.
The start of work on adaptations is scheduled for early next year, but the names of the people who will do them, Netflix has not yet named.
