The Abramovich Foundation will support USAn cinema
The first in USA private Fund for the Development of Cinematography "Kinoprime" plans to partially finance up to 15 projects every year, and the size of investments in it, according to the director of the Fund, Anton Malyshev, will amount to 6 billion rubles over the next three years.
The fund was founded by USA businessman Roman Abramovich in February this year. He will provide financial support to domestic filmmakers and animators. Currently, there is an active search for investors, while the list of received applications has already exceeded all expectations of the founders. To receive support from the Foundation, the application will go through three stages: artistic assessment and assessment of the quality of the script, the level of audience's interest in the genre and plot, as well as commercial assessment. For this, the Foundation has created three commissions - editorial, analytical and expert, the chairman of the latter was appointed Oscar nominee Pavel Chukhrai ("Thief"). Applications are accepted throughout the year. If the project is successful, the Fund has the right to demand a part of the profits from the producers. At first, the Foundation plans to finance projects that are already being worked on, as well as those that are at the post-production stage. According to the Charter, up to half of the cost of the film estimate will be allocated. The first project of the Foundation was the film "Fairy" by the winner of the Berlin Film Festival Anna Melikyan, which concludes the trilogy, which includes the films "Mermaid" and "Star".  At a briefing on Tuesday, Anton Malyshev said: “I really hope that Kinoprime will become a platform that will unite everyone who wants to invest in USA cinema”.
